Fabulously Festive Charity Event Success
What a fabulously festive evening we all had at the annual KWMCC & Cedarwood School Christmas Shopping Evening.
The venue looked amazing again this year with the help of Let's Party Venue Decor and the beautiful displays by all the stall holders on the night.
Visitors were able to browse and buy from over 30 exhibitors offering some lovely festive gifts, whilst Hungry Tums provided lots of tasty treats. Therapists were kept busy with their massage and mini pamper treatments and Pip Duffy kept everyone in the mood with his wonderful singing.
Event Organisers Jo (KWMCC) & Fiona (Cedarwood PFC) said:

Special thanks to all the wonderful stall holders, therapists, volunteers, KWMCC staff, singer, Pip Duffy who entertained us throughout the evening, and of course our event sponsors, Kesgrave Cars, Let's Party, Tax Rebates, Spin Ipswich, Jo's Word Art and Polstead Press. Your support has helped to raise £1748.49 for the Community Centre and the Parents & Friends Committee of Cedarwood Primary School” which is fantastic.
This is a great community event so please make sure you get the date in your diaries for next year... Friday 22nd November 2019!

Kesgrave Running Club Wins Award
Congratulations to Kesgrave Cruisers for winning the 'Club of the Year Award' such a huge achievement in such a short space of time.
This all inclusive running club meet at Kesgrave Community Centre, on a Tuesday evening from 7.00pm - 8.00pm. Every ability is catered for from first time beginners to dedicated competitors, it's a great opportunity for people to meet and run in a fun and safe environment.
Em Mortimer who started the running club said:
"I started the club as I was going to be training on my own and I thought I would open up my session to others to join in to help them improve. I got diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome early last year so wasn’t able to run myself and so in March I did my first coaching course and since then it really has given me the confidence to push the club and to help others. Last year the club would have a maximum of 30 runners completing a warm up session, which involves interval work and a cool down. I regularly have over 100 now on a Tuesday night at kesgrave community centre and last Tuesday there was 140.
I am on cloud nine still and I am so made up to have won this award. All I want is for adults and kids to enjoy their running and for it to be fun, friendly and safe. This is certainly the theme at kesgrave kruisers. Every week I have someone thanking me for a personal best, a good session, saying that they have made so many friends at kruisers and that they are loving their running again since coming along! It makes me feel emotional sometimes but every single one of my runners is fantastic and the support and attitudes of those who are Kesgrave Kruisers is like nothing I have experienced before anywhere else. I wouldn’t have been able to do all of this though without my amazing committee behind me! "
Fashion Show Success
Kesgrave Community Centre (KWMCC) was transformed last Friday evening for their first 'Kesgrave Catwalk' fashion show, organised by KWMCC and hosted by Pam Davis director of Fashion Candy Style, the event showcased autumn and winter collections by local retailers.
Richard Garrett, owner of Sound 4 Pro Audio created a wonderful set up, of lighting & sound and a fabulous catwalk for the models to show onlookers the latest outfits on offer from the shows retailers.
The event was very well attended and featured a raffle for the Papworth Trust, raising over £300 for the charity on the night.
Jo Barker Business & Events Co-ordinator at Kesgrave Community Centre said:
“It was such a special evening, with a great atmosphere. We have received very positive feedback about the event and hope to organise another one for next year. The centre looked amazing thanks to Sound 4 pro Audio and Let’s Party, whilst the catwalk show hosted by Pam and her team of models and catwalk retailers was fantastic. A great big thank you to everyone involved in the event and to everyone that bought tickets. We were very pleased to be able to support the Papworth Trust with a raffle on the night and we look forward to the next one.”
Ticket holders were able to enjoy an evening of exclusive shopping (before and after the show), Prosecco, canapes and a one hour catwalk show. Catwalk collections were provided by local retailers Cake & Catwalk, Zeebra Chic, Simply Splendid, Tilley & Grace and Maud’s Attic.

New Cricket Facilities for Kesgrave
Congratulations to Kesgrave Cricket Club on their 25th anniversary and for their amazing fund-raising efforts to provide new practice facilities for their club.
The club celebrated the opening of their newly built outdoor practice facility on Sunday 1st July with Graham Napier, ex Essex and England cricketer, now with RHS Sport, visiting the club to formally ‘cut the ribbon’.
Graham then held a Q & A session encouraging all the young players who attended the opening, to practice hard but always remember to still enjoy playing the game, this was followed by an interclub T20 match and BBQ to celebrate the club’s 25th anniversary.

Post event statement from the cricket club;
The club at Kesgrave had raised £40,000 over the past three years in order to fund the new practice facility through a combination of grants, donations and fund-raising events. Club Chairman, Richard Bradley, said “A major contribution of funds was made by local charity SPARK (Sport and Recreation in Kesgrave) to whom we are very grateful”. He added “The club is always looking to recruit new coaches and players, both junior and adult and we particularly hope these new practice nets will generate enthusiasm for the game from school aged youngsters locally”. Details on cricket coaching for young people from age 8 upwards is available on the club website at kesgrave.play-cricket.com
The club is currently enjoying their most successful period ever. After winning the league title for the last two years, the first XI are now top of Division 3 of the Two Counties league and the second XI are top of Division 9 East.
